Sustainability means leaving a world for the following generations which is environmentally, socially and economically intact. Many people are active for these goals every day all over the world.

With the international "Facing Sustainability Award" we invited professional photographers and amateurs to show us these people and to tell their stories.

We received over 450 photos from 52 countries – pictures, that showed activists of a sustainability development from nearly every perspective.

At the beginning of August, a high-profile jury has chosen the three winners of the competition. They will be showcased together with the winner of our public vote at the Annual Conference of the German Council for Sustainable Development on 6 September 2005 in Berlin.
